Pre-sale is now over.
Czech Theater’s theme for the 2025-2026 season is “Death”, and we are opening it with a true Czech classic: Karel Jaromír Erben’s "Kytice: A Bouquet of Czech Folktales".
"Kytice" is a collection of 13 ballads inspired by oral tradition and Czech legends. Apart from the supernatural and whimsy, it addresses interpersonal relationships, guilt, punishment, and death; women are often in the forefront. Czech Theater will present 7 of the 13 original poems in Erben’s collection.
Join us on the journey through love, grief and terror, and meet our characters: supernatural beings, worried mothers, and cheerful maidens – for the first time ever on stage in English.
This production of “Kytice” is based on the translation by Susan Reynolds published by Jantar Publishing. It was adapted for the stage by Lenka Koudelková and Inês Ribas Johnson.
