Zámek Belcredi Líšeň Brno

The prominent Belcredi noble family settled at the chateau in 1819 and owned it until 1949. At that time the chateau was confiscated from the Belcredi family and passed through the hands of several users. The furniture, chateau library and works of art were removed, and the building was altered carelessly and without expertise to suit their needs. In 1992 the chateau was returned to its original owner and began undergoing extensive reconstruction and repairs. An artistically wrought iron gate and grille separate the entrance to the first courtyard from Pohankova Street. The courtyard serves as a car park for wedding guests and visitors to the chateau wine bar, where wedding receptions can be arranged. The front of the chateau, which has a new façade, bears the Latin inscription ET a DOMINO factum est istud, meaning “And this was done by the Lord”. Above the inscription is the Belcredi family coat of arms.
