The chateau was built in the so-called Mannerist style in 1680–88 beside a ruined castle. In 1801, a windstorm damaged both buildings. The owner at the time, Alois of Liechtenstein, then had the castle demolished. In 1850, the chateau began serving as the district court and tax office. It gradually fell into disrepair over the years. It was not until 1931 that it was transferred to the State Land Office as part of land reform.
