About venue

The historic core with its tower originated around 1240. The vaulted passage between Radnická Street and the courtyard features a richly decorated portal with a legendary bent turret, created in 1511 by sculptor and woodcarver Anton Pilgram, a representative of Central European Late Gothic. Italian builders remodelled the courtyard with Renaissance arcades at the end of the 16th century; further changes came with an early Baroque reconstruction. The building houses a gallery, and in summer visitors can see the historic halls—the Crystal Hall, the Fresco Hall and the Treasury. The 63-metre tower, with its Renaissance helmet roof and viewing gallery, is also open to visitors.
