The building opened in 1895 for cultural and educational purposes. The hall building in Loket is unique in the purpose for which it was built: it combined the functions of a boarding school for the local secondary school and a social and cultural facility serving the town.
After the Second World War, the National Committee was based here. The building includes an entrance hall and a main hall with a stage. It remained a lively centre of culture into the 1980s, but after it was privatised it stood neglected for many years.
It returned to town ownership in 2002. In 2015, the hall was declared a cultural monument and has now been completely renovated so that, after almost 30 years, it can once again serve as a dignified cultural and social centre for the town.
