About venue

Since May 2015, the site of the former Hlubina hard-coal mine has been open to the public. It is an integral part of the old industrial complex in Dolní Vítkovice. Old buildings have been transformed into an arts district focused on education in the humanities and arts and crafts.

The former operational and administrative buildings now house a multidisciplinary cultural and educational centre with cinemas, music rehearsal rooms and a recording studio, studios, presentation spaces, a dance hall and BrickHouse DOV, one of Ostrava's largest music clubs.

After years of closure, the mine is alive with work again, although the work is very different from mining. Hlubina is becoming a centre for humanities education and culture in Ostrava, a platform for emerging and promising talents seeking a home for their work, whether craft-based, artistic or something else.

People come here for education, culture, entertainment and active leisure. This technical monument has come back to life.

Hlubina is also attracting considerable interest from business customers. For conferences, product demonstrations, meetings with customers and company parties, they appreciate the unique setting, unmatched elsewhere in the country, together with modern equipment that takes every event to a higher level.

We are here to organise an event tailored to your wishes, whether it is a conference, company celebration or wedding. We can provide everything from renting unique spaces and catering by top five-star chefs to a full bar with a selection many sommeliers would envy.
