About venue
The castle, dating from the second half of the 13th century and later rebuilt as a château, was formerly called Wartenberg and stands above Stráž pod Ralskem. It was built to protect the Zittau trade route and gave its name to a powerful noble family whose lords styled themselves ‘of Wartenberg’. It has been open to the public since May 2024.
