O akci

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ENGLISH BARCELONA GIPSY KLEZMER ORCHESTRA (BGKO) has been thrilling audiences all over Europe with their soulful, vibrant show of traditional and popular Gipsy and Jewish music from Eastern Europe. ENGLISH BGKO is made of six musicians from around the world, playing clarinet, double bass, accordion, guitar, lead vocals, percussion etc. Originally from Serbia, Italy, France, Spain, Greece and India, BGKO’s musicians connected in Barcelona over their passion for Balkan music from a special perspective. Their particular style comes from Klezmer music, Gipsy Jazz and Romani music as well as from their exploration of forgotten music styles, specific timbres and flavours from regions around Eastern Europe. BGKO has also been inspired by Barcelona’s eclectic music scene, from Latin-American melodies, traditional Catalan and Middle Eastern music to electrifying Jazz and Rockabilly.

Having presented their debut album IMBARCA (Satélite K) in 2014, BGKO toured Italy, Greece, Malta, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany and Spain, performing at festivals and venues, including the prestigious L'Auditori – ranking as one of the most international groups based in Barcelona. BGKO’s planned tours for 2015 include Ireland, Holland, France, Austria, Switzerland, Serbia, Russia and the USA. The group will also record their second album with special guests from Macedonia and Slovenia.

Created in 2012, BGKO grew a large fanbase at concerts and social networks, reaching over 700,000 visits to "Djelem Djelem" on YouTube in less than a year. La Vanguardia TV, Deutchland Radio Kultur, La Stampa, Mondo Sonoro etc., have acclaimed IMBARCA, the first album ever to be presented at all FNAC stores in Barcelona. Cuban song’s reinterpretation, "Hasta Siempre, Comandante" opened Spain’s popular radio show Hoy por Hoy.

BGKO consists of Robindro Nikolic (Serbia-India: clarinet, bass clarinet, duduk), Mattia Schirosa (Italy: accordion), Ivan Kovacevic (Serbia: double bass), Julien Chanal (France: guitar), Stelios Togias (Greece: percussion, tzouras), Sandra Sangiao (Spain: lead vocals).

As in the best Gypsy and Jewish traditions, ever enriched by exchanges with other migrant musicians, BGKO has also created a large musical family of artists, musicians, singers, from countries such as Israel, Iran, Moldova, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Switzerland, etc.
