Straight Talking with Turan Ali

Turan Ali is an acclaimed stand-up comedian and outrageous storyteller from
London. He has just finished an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
“Triumphant” (All Edinburgh Theatre), “Legendary” (Fringe Review). He hosts and
produces Volkstheater’s hit monthly show TRUE STORY NIGHTS (now in its 3rd year of sold out performances).

Based in Vienna, he writes, produces and directs drama and comedy for the BBC, and performs comedy and stories on stage throughout Europe. STRAIGHT TALKING is a clever solo show of high quality, intelligent and provocative queer stand-up comedy, stories, songs, poems and some fabulous costumes (of course!).

His material makes sense of having a Turkish Muslim father, an Austrian Catholic
mother, growing up in London, going to a Jewish school, and being proudly gay. But not all parts of his world cope so well with that pride. In this solo show, Straight Talking, he shines a light on some of the crazy ways heterosexuals run their lives and relationships. He surprises audiences with many things he claims straights can learn from gays.
