O akci

This workshop runs from 10AM to 5PM with a one hour break for lunch.

Many improv classes focus on building better scenes.

This workshop focuses on the tools to build better shows.

Montage is one of the most playful and flexible forms of long-form improv. Rather than following a single story, performers create a series of connected scenes that grow through patterns, themes, relationships, and bold edits. The result is a show that feels both spontaneous and cohesive.

Throughout the day we'll explore how to recognize edit opportunities, connect seemingly unrelated scenes, use physicality to inspire new ideas, and trust the ensemble to build something larger than any individual scene. We'll also experiment with freeform openings, narration, and other techniques that allow a show to evolve organically.

While these tools are central to montage, they don't stop there. Strong editing, visual storytelling, ensemble awareness, and confident transitions make almost every improv format more playful, more surprising, and more connected. Whether you're performing short form, narrative, Armando, Harold, or completely freeform improv, these techniques will give you more options whenever you're on stage.

Although the workshop is called Advanced Montage, you don't need previous montage experience. If you're comfortable improvising scenes and want to expand your long-form toolkit, you'll fit right in.

The workshop is inspired in part by the "freeform" approach alongside techniques drawn from contemporary long-form improvisation and duo work.
