Better Person (the moniker of musician Adam Byczkowski) released "It’s Only You", his debut EP, this past February. Inspired by winter days in his former apartment, an icy top floor flat on Berlin’s Pannierstrasse where he would stay up late and spend his days alone. While the EP’s sonic touchstones – torch songs, Sade, Arthur Russell, synthed-up European and Japanese pop from the 80s, French and Italian movie soundtracks – are all unimpeachably romantic, there’s a more Romantic undercurrent of isolation that begins from the way "It’s Only You" was made – all recorded on a computer at home. Byczkowski brings to the fore an aspect of the recent embrace of New Romantic soundscapes and R&B emoting: crooning as a form of self-seduction, a kind of therapy, an impossible compromise between the irreconcilable poles of intimacy and isolated self-sufficiency. The title itself casually, elegantly captures the paradoxical phase shift which occurs when the movement toward closeness becomes a plunge into solitude. "It's Only You" is the sound of turning down the mood lighting so low you're no longer sure if anyone else is there.

Jung An Tagen is the primary music act operating inside the VIV .

His 3rd album “Das Fest Der Reichen” was released in autumn 2016 on Editions Mego .

By using substractive synthesis and sampling techniques Jung An Tagen builds aleatoric arrays, repetitive figures & polyrhythmic moirés circulating around distinctive timbres and haptic fragments, resulting in a vision of morphing movements between high energy and zero gravity states. Because of the synaesthesian nature of the VIV, Jung An Tagen is bound very closely to a specific visual grammar and is intertwined with video art, even though the performative settings are usually reduced to music only. In the past Stefan was mainly present with different bands & monikers on labels like NotNotFun, Blackest Rainbow, 100% Silk or his own imprint SF Broadcasts. He recorded with musicians such as Tom Greenwood or Didi Bruckmayr, toured Europe and America and shared the stage with artists like Whitehouse or Faust. Besides, he worked on covers, posters and other graphic works for different artists e.g. Kevin Drumm and as experimental video artist with videos screened at festivals and in exhibitions around Europe. Due to different aliases and other disorientation strategies, it’s not always easy to keep track, yet every part of the puzzle follows a distinct aesthetic idea about subconscious states, body & time interleavings and identity itself.

Promise Keeper is William Fussell, formerly of Atlanta-based band Mood Rings, known for their engaging ethereal post-punk sound. The debut release, a Double A-side single Side/Decide and Porous Silk was released on the new label Fnord in 2016. Based in London but touring extensively in Europe and North America Promise Keeper live shows combine the aesthetics of a Weimar cabaret with sophisticated pop that marries seductive vocals and pared-down post-punk guitars and synths with nods to vintage analog funk, Italo-disco, country, and blue-eyed soul.

Promise Keeper is the delight of a timeless and sensitively edited eclecticism in a musical landscape in which intelligent pop music has never seemed more like an oxymoron.
